The Driskill is the oldest operating hotel in Austin, built in 1886 by cattle baron Colonel Jesse Driskill. Over the decades, the Driskill has played host to countless lavish parties attended by the elite of Texas politics, commerce and the arts. Lyndon B. Johnson, who kept a suite here throughout his political life, spent the 1964 presidential election night in the Driskill.
